The vision of the leaders includes raising, feeding, fitting and showing your animals.
The Lancaster County Red Rose 4-H Beef Club offers market steer and breeding heifer projects. The 4-H beef program begins in the fall of each year when members obtain animals for the following year's shows. The 4-H beef program meets once a month beginning in March. At these meetings, topics concerning beef animals are discussed. These topics include raising, feeding, fitting and showing your animals. Members and leaders can assist you with any questions concerning your project animals.
With the help of parents and leaders, members are responsible for selecting their project animal, providing housing, hay, feed, and water to their animal. Each animal must also be ear tagged for identification, and be seen by a veterinarian for proper vaccinations and health certificates.
As a club member, you are expected to attend the club meetings, participate in club fundraisers, and complete a record book for your project animal.
