The Mount Joy 4-H Community Club meets from March thru August each year, offering many fun opportunities for the boys and girls who become members!
The club holds 6 community club meetings where members participate in a business meeting (run by members who are elected to serve as officers), games, refreshments, and a program. Programs change each year but may include presentations from local groups like Ronald McDonald House, the Food Bank or the Canine Search and Rescue, activities like 4-H Jeopardy or a club picnic, or service projects like collecting non-perishable foods for donation or sorting and packing clothing at The Global Aid Network (GAIN).
In addition to the club meetings, members may sign up to complete one or more "projects", which meet separately in small groups, and may include things like:
- Cake Decorating
- Calligraphy
- Candy Making
- Canoeing/Camping
- Floral Design
- Foods
- Paper Crafts
- Rocketry
- Sewing
- Strawberry Growing
- Woodworking
- Yeast Breads
- and more!
Our goal is to help youth learn project-specific skills in addition to helping them learn life skills like time management, leadership, speaking in front of a group, making friends and more.
