Lancaster County 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Club, also known as “Puppies with a Purpose” meets the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at 7:00 PM in the downstairs training room of the Farm and Home Center.

Our club consists of 4-H members and adults who are raising puppies for The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ. Our monthly meetings always include a training circle where puppies practice obedience and do other activities that will expose them to different things. In addition to our meetings, we also schedule monthly outings that provide the puppies with important exposure and confidence in a variety of settings.

Puppy raisers and their families are responsible for the care and training of these puppies from the time of their arrival (about 7 weeks old) until they are returned to The Seeing Eye for their formal training (about 14-16 months). During this time they will provide the puppies with lots of love, teach them basic commands and house manners, and expose them to different things.

Information about The Seeing Eye and the puppy raising program can be found at www.seeingeye.org. Anyone interested in learning more about our club is welcome to visit a meeting.
