Due to the spread of COVID-19, many youth are learning from home while practicing social distancing. Great news! There are many equine resources available to keep those horse kids busy during this remarkable time. This page provides a listing of many of these resources that youth can utilize while they may not be able to be participating in their clubs the traditional way.

The 2019 4-H State Council formed a goal to collect 4,444 cards for deployed service members from Pennsylvania. They unveiled the total collected at State Leadership Conference in February.

Ten 4-H’ers represented Pennsylvania in four different contest areas at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, KY on November 21, 2019, showed impressive results at the national event.

The 60th annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show was held October 25-27 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. More than 700 youth from over 55 counties participated in 74 performance classes throughout the weekend. There were over 1500 entries shown by youth who qualified for the show.

This summer, 4-H members from across the state had the opportunity to participate in a variety of animal science contests. The contests are designed to provide an educational experience, develop self-confidence and encourage decision making.

Wayne County 4-H teens were named the winners of the second Pennsylvania 4-H Science of Agriculture Challenge, hosted by Penn State Extension’s 4-H Youth Development program, after competing amongst more than 40 4-H youth from throughout the commonwealth, in grades six through twelve.

The 6th annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Junior Horse Championship Show was held July 27-28, 2019 at the Centre County Grange Fairgrounds in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania. More than 140 4-H members from across Pennsylvania exhibited horses in performance and in hand classes, totaling over 450 entries for the weekend.

Nicole Sciubba, 4-H Poultry Leader from Delaware County, received the 2019 Carolyn Blum Memorial Pennsylvania Poultry Youth Service Award at the annual Youth Poultry 101 Conference on April 27 at Penn State’s University Park campus. The award recognizes adults who have given outstanding service to youth poultry programs in Pennsylvania.
