Chester County Master Gardeners support the Honey Brook Food Pantry program, Food for Life, which offer container and raised vegetable beds at the Honey Brook Borough Park.
In 2019, the Honey Brook Food Pantry Garden For Life program again offered family container vegetable gardens and kids' gardens, and added two raised vegetable beds at the Honey Brook Borough Park.
About 30 families chose to have container vegetable gardens at their homes, consisting of three containers with a choice of vegetables including tomatoes, sweet peppers, herbs, eggplant, beans, lettuce, jalapeño peppers, beets and cucumbers. Containers, soil, seedlings, seeds and instructions were delivered to homes so families could grow healthy food at home without having to build an in-ground garden.
