There are numerous community projects that are supported by Master Gardeners. These include community garden support, increasing pollinator gardens, working with a youth home to learn about growing food, and more. We love supporting the places we live!
Chester County Master Gardeners support the Honey Brook Food Pantry program, Food for Life, which offer container and raised vegetable beds at the Honey Brook Borough Park.
Chester County Master Gardeners helped install raised garden beds at the Valley Youth House for young men in West Chester and continue to support and teach the residents about growing food.
Master Gardeners, led by Dave Jones, have partnered with the Parkesburg Library for 5 years, to install and maintain beautiful blooming beds, edible gardens, as well as plots for community participants.
Each year, Master Gardeners support the fundraising and teaching efforts of Barclay Friends, a senior living center in West Chester that offers an amazing horticultural therapy program. It's a fun fall time with fellow gardeners and folks who love plants.
In the summer of 2019, a team of Master Gardeners designed and installed an updated garden at the Kennett Area Senior Center for attendees to learn from and enjoy.
Master Gardener worked with staff members at Penn Veterinary School's New Bolton Center to create a teaching garden of plants that are poisonous to large, domesticated animals.
