Description of the garden: This garden serves a dual purpose: it is a teaching garden and a produce resource for the community.
As a teaching garden, Master Gardeners host various events throughout the year, including pea and garlic planting, sweet potato planting and harvesting, plant swaps, and herb education workshops. All events are advertised locally and on Master Gardener websites.
As a produce resource for the community, three teams of Master Gardeners maintain ten beds throughout the year, growing a variety of crops such as sweet potatoes, garlic, peas, and tomatoes. All produce -- hundreds of pounds annually -- is donated to local food pantries. Additional garden plots are available to the community for their use.
