Paca Pals 4-H Club participated in the Sheep to Scarf at the Garden State Sheep and Fiber Festival at the Hunterdon County Fairground in Ringoes, New Jersey. This was our second time doing this event, but our first time with competitors. It was a fun day and a great competition to participate in and it allowed us to meet other groups and people who shared a common interest and hobby. The competition was a fun event to see our hard work pays off and show off our skills.

Our theme for this year's competition was a take on the fairytale Sleeping Beauty, with our group being called Sheeping Beauty. We chose this theme because there is a spinning wheel involved in the story and the fairytale is known by young and old. For our scarf, we chose to do a Handspun undulating twill with the warp being purple and the weft being white. We chose this because the pattern looks hypnotizing and medieval, reminding us of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. The members of our team were Barb (Mentor, Spokesperson, and Carder), Emma (Spinner), Ethne (Spinner), and Aaron (Weaver).

We would like to thank Barb, our team leader and mentor who helped and taught us the skills needed to be able to compete in the competition. Thank you to Rhea and the Paca Pals 4-H Club for the time and supplies provided for learning and practicing our skills. And thank you to the Bucks County 4 H Roundup and Middletown Grange Fair for allowing us to do a demonstration to help us prepare and practice for the Sheep to Scarf. Without the help of everyone involved, we would not have been able to win this year's competition and make a complex and quality scarf!
