4-H Camp Shehaqua our home away from home during the summer.

Between swimming, archery, and a rousing game of capture the flag, 4-Hers had a blast at 4-H Camp Shehaqua this summer. After last summer's day camps, campers were excited to return to their week of nonstop fun.
While preparing to tie dye a bandana during arts and crafts, one junior camper, Gia, attended the day camps last summer and has been eagerly waiting all year to attend her first sleep away camp. She said, "I'm having so much fun this week. I've love being a part of my civilization and hanging out with my friends all day." At camp, campers become part of civilizations in which they compete in games against other civilizations and get the chance to show civilization spirit during the Tuesday night game of capture the flag and during Thursday’s final campfire.
Two campers, Franny and Jessie, agreed they loved going on the beach trip on Wednesday. During the trip campers hike to a nearby beach to spend the afternoon playing games, such as a relay race, and swimming in the lake. "The beach and capture the flag are my favorite camp activities." Franny said, then adding, "I also like the food, it's pretty good."
Campers also get to participate in specials. Campers can pick from several different activities run by the counselors. This year campers could chose from a wide range of activities, such a volleyball, friendship bracelet making, science experiments, and even improv. One camper, Ella was eager to sign up for improv, "I like to do theater at home so it's going to be so much fun getting to do a bit at camp."
Campers spent the week learning new skills, creating new memories, and forming a camp family at Shehaqua. Laughs were shared from the dining hall to the cabins and bittersweet tears were shed as campers said goodbye.
