Lab Safety

Laboratory Safety (Initial)

Mandatory. One-time. This course is a one-time requirement under the Chemical Safety Program required of anyone who supervises laboratory staff or works in a laboratory.

Laboratory Safety (Refresher)

Mandatory. Annually. This course is an annual requirement for anyone who has completed the initial Laboratory Safety.

Chemical Waste Info

Chemical Waste Training is covered in the Laboratory Safety Initial and Refresher Training. This training is mandatory for all lab personnel.

Laboratory and Research Safety Plan (PDF)

Mandatory for all department laboratories.

Unit Specific Plan

Microsoft Word Document, 610.0 KB

This document becomes a component of the Laboratory and Research Safety Plan. Each lab shall prepare a Unit Specific Plan to define laboratory hazards and procedures specific to that lab.

Chemical Inventory Management System (chims).

Authorized users will access their chemical inventory to make changes, corrections and updates, prepare inventory reports and obtain safety information on their chemicals, all from this system. Regular use and updating of your chemical inventory is an essential part of the university's efforts to comply with various regulations as well as to provide critical information to emergency responders entering an area where hazardous chemicals are present.
