About the Department

Founded in 1930, the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering in Penn State's Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Engineering, provides high quality engineering education, research, and outreach.

Welcome to our Department

Our mission is to advance the engineering sciences, business, and technical management of biological and agricultural systems by promoting scholarship and engaging our students and stakeholders.  These systems involve the production, processing, utilization and value recovery of biological products and the management of natural resources.

The department’s undergraduate and graduate programs provide highly qualified engineers, systems managers, technology developers, researchers, outreach educators and university teaching faculty for Pennsylvania, the nation, and the world. The educational programs offered are the B.S. in Biological Engineering, B.S. in BioRenewable Systems, M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, and M.S. and Ph.D. in BioRenewable Systems.
