2012 Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award

Dr. Yanbin Li, Professor and Tyson Endowed Chair in Biosensing Engineering at the University of Arkansas, was recognized as the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering Outstanding Engineering Alumnus for 2012.
Dr. Li has built an international reputation for his research in processing for food safety and foodborne pathogen detection. He is a stellar researcher and teacher as well.
Dr. Li has published a total of 98 refereed journal articles (91 of them as senior author, either the first author or the first author’s advisor) in different journals. He has 219 papers (198 of them as senior author) presented at national and international meetings (29 of them are invited presentations), and 122 papers (89 of them as senior author) presented at local, state and regional meetings. He wrote 5 book chapters. He gave 30 invited lectures and presentations. He is an inventor or co-inventor in 10 patents issued, 5 patents pending (8 of them are licensed by two private companies). He has developed and taught new courses for undergraduate and graduate levels in biological engineering. The topics include biosensors, risk analysis in biological systems, and food safety engineering. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering at Penn State in 1994.
