The mission of the Washington County Master Gardener Outreach Committee is to educate the public about the Master Gardener Program offerings and to help people learn how to enroll and take the course.
The Master Gardener program is a great resource for everyone from home gardens to community gardens to landscaping businesses.
The Outreach Committee and our volunteers use several means to get our presence out to the public:
- We set up and provide information tables at community events (such as community days, county fairs, farmer's markets) and garden centers (such as Trax, Bedners, big box stores).
Our committee also offers fun and informative gardening presentations at libraries and garden clubs.
- Our volunteers seek out publications to advertise the upcoming course and post information in public event calendars.
- We maintain a database of people that have expressed interest in taking the course and provide periodic communication.
Through these efforts, we reach out to gardening enthusiasts who would like to further enhance their knowledge. Our volunteers provide information about the course and program events as well as offer assistance in helping to apply and enroll in the course.
