At the heart of our mission is a simple but powerful goal: to share the learning and expertise of Penn State Extension Master Gardeners with the people of Washington County—cultivating a more informed, environmentally conscious, and connected community through gardening.

Gardening improves well-being, supports local ecosystems, and connects people to nature. By offering research-backed education, Master Gardeners empower individuals to make confident, sustainable choices in their own backyards and neighborhoods.

Our volunteers bring horticulture education directly into the community—presenting at schools, senior centers, libraries, farmers’ markets, and events like the Washington County Fair and local Community Days. From teaching kids about pollinators to guiding adults on composting or container gardening, we meet people where they are and help them grow.

Whether you’re starting a garden, expanding your knowledge, or simply curious, the Master Gardeners are here to help Washington County grow—one garden at a time.
