The 4-H Horse clubs are open to all youth ages 8 - 18 (by Jan. 1st of the current year) with or without horses.

Montgomery County has a long history of 4-H Horse clubs (the first in the State!) promoting knowledge of horsemanship and responsible, ethical equine use, care, and management. Youth who participate in 4-H Horse programs develop skills that include leadership, responsibility, sportsmanship, teamwork, community service, a positive attitude, and a sense of self-worth.  Members do not have to own or lease a horse to be in our clubs - many of our members are "horseless" but love horses and want to learn more about them.  There are a variety of regional and statewide horse specific events and contests for members to take part in.

Please note that 4-H does not provide horses to members - taking lessons is something families can chose to do on their own time.

For members that do own or lease their own horse have opportunities to compete in local, regional and statewide horse shows.

The Montgomery County 4-H Horse Clubs are:

  • Bits & Pieces Horse Club
  • Central Horse & Pony Club

Montgomery County also has a model horse club - The Tiny Trotters.

This club specializes in activities and projects with model horses - there are even model horse shows!

All of the Montgomery Co. Horse Clubs meet monthly at our 4-H Center with additional activities and meetings held at the leader's discretion. Please contact our office at 610-489-4315 for leader contact information and our office staff will put you in touch with the club leader. The club leader will let you know when the next meeting is being held and give you more detailed information on club activities and events. When you attend the meeting and make the decision to join the club, the club leader will have all the necessary information for you to join 4-H.
