We received a $75,000 Research Applications for Innovation (RAIN) grant from the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Program at the College of Agricultural Sciences to move our new radio frequency technology forward toward commercialization.
During this funding cycle (07-01-2017 - 12-31-18), we are working on proof of concept for the use of an innovation by our research team that is an added treatment with radio frequency to treat wood packing material in compliance with International Standards of Phytosanitary Measure No. 15 (ISPM-15). This innovation reduces treatment time and should thus be more cost effective than conventional heating and more environmentally friendly than methyl bromide fumigation. As we test our invention, we are also receiving market assessment support from PSU's Smeal Business School.
