The primary mission of the Master Gardener program is to support Penn State Extension through Outreach and Education to the public.
Penn State Extension Master Gardeners develop their horticultural expertise through participation in educational programs conducted by Penn State Faculty and Extension staff, so that through their training they may in turn educate the public on various topics in consumer horticulture. Penn State Extension Master Gardeners see youth outreach as very important as our children are the gardeners of the future. Master Gardeners are involved in many community outreach projects for children such as educational fairs, school presentations, and school gardens.
Master Gardener Volunteers are community members trained in horticulture through Penn State Extension. We offer a variety of informative, educational, and entertaining presentations to the public through our Speaker's Bureau.
Our popular information tables provide qualified Master Gardeners to answer questions and provide education on home gardening subjects.
Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Centre County can be found at AG Progress Days and The Grange Fair each August.
