The Dairy Goat Show was part of the 4-H Fair Week.  Forty-five goat projects were exhibited by 20 4-H youth participants.  This year the show was divided into four breed classes - American Oberhasli, Alpine, Nigerian Dwarf, and Recorded Grade Dairy Goats. A separate market goat show was held earlier in the week.

Judge Andrew Bowman of Slatington, Pennsylvania did a great job in placing the animals.

In the American Oberhasli breed, Melissa Johnson of Glen Mills was Grand Champion and Senior Champion with her aged doe, Georgia Breeze.  Julianna Johnson of Glen Mills was the Reserve Champion with her 2-year old doe, Majesty's Tiara.  Melisa's kid goat, Pina Colada, was the Junior Champion and Julianna's kid, Princess's Tiara, was the Reserve Junior Champion.

In the Alpine breed, Reith Bros. Farm Nicotineae, a milking yearling owned by Olivia Prince of Downingtown, was the Senior Champion and Grand Champion.  Reith Bros Farm Lunaria, a 3-year old doe owned by Xavier Reith of West Grove, was the Reserve Champion.  Xavier's yearling, Reith Bros. Farm Nebula, was the Junior Champion.  Evelyn Bove of Kennett Square had the Reserve Junior Champion with her yearling, AHF NAPA.

In the Nigerian Dwarf breed, Black Diamond Lady Luella, owned by Emma Magee of Coatesville, was Junior Champion.  The Winter Harvest Farm Lulu, owned by Ethan Magee, was Senior Champion.

In the Recorded Grade show, Melissa Johnson's milking yearling, Nevada Breeze, was Senior Champion and Grand Champion.  Megan Johnson's kid, LM Pearl, was the Junior Champion and the Reserve Champion.

Olivia Prince's Alpine milking yearling, Reith Bros. Farm Nicotineae, was selected for Best in Show honor.

In the Fitting and Showing competition, Melissa Johnson was both the Champion Showman and Champion Fitter for the senior division.  In the intermediate division, Olivia Prince was the Champion Showman and Fitter. In the junior division, Megan Johnson was the Champion Showman and Fitter, and in the 1st year division, Levi Baird of Pottstown was recognized as Champion Showman and Fitter.

Recognition was also given to Emma Eldredge of Coatesville, and Ella Wingrave of West Chester, as Cloverbud participants.

The Chester County 4-H Goat show was one of the many shows that took place during the Chester County 4-H Fair Week, held August 8-13, 2022.  We are proud of all our 4-H members and welcome youth with various project interests to participate in our program.
