The Spirit of 4-H Award was started in 1998 by the Saddle Up 4-H Horse and Pony Club.

Spirit of 4-H Award winner, David Gober, and his club leader, Davida Waters.
The award goes to a member of the club that demonstrates the most spirit, enthusiasm, and willingness to do anything for 4-H or the community. It is an honor for 4-H members to be awarded the Spirit of 4-H Award, and that continues today.
4-H club leaders nominate one member from each club who demonstrates the most spirit, enthusiasm, and willingness to do anything for 4-H or the community. Once nominated, the members are asked to complete and return an application to be reviewed by the 4-H Program Development Committee which selects the Chester County 4-H member who is most deserving of the award.
In 2024, Chester County 4-H honored one winner of the Spirit of 4-H Award and one additional 4-H member with a Certificate of Achievement.
Being recognized for her achievement is Megan Johnson.
Megan is 12 years old and started in 4-H as a Cloverbud member. She is active in the West Chester Sewing Club and the Milk & More 4-H Community Club in Chester County, and is also a 4-H member in Montgomery County. Megan credits 4-H with helping her learn to problem-solve with animals, projects, and people. She also acknowledges that the 4-H motto of "make the best better" is really important; she learned that doing things a couple times is what really makes you learn and get better.
Winner of the 2024 Chester County Spirit of 4-H Award is David Gober.
David is a ten year 4-H member of the Northern Chester County Horse and Pony Club. He credits 4-H with helping prepare him for future life and his aspiration to become an equine veterinarian. David has been active in county, state, and national 4-H events, and completed his 4-H Diamond Clover Award last year with his Project Elevate - a service project for enlisted military. David's enthusiasm and commitment will be missed by his 4-H club as he graduates this year. David received a plaque in recognition for being selected winner of the Spirit of 4-H Award, as well as having his name on a plaque displayed at the 4-H Center.
