Susquehanna County celebrates 35 years of Ag Day! Join us on Friday, March 21, at Montrose Area High School. Advanced registration is required.

Registration is now open for a celebrated annual event in Susquehanna County - Ag Day returns for the 35th year on Friday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at a new location - Montrose Area High School. The event is free and open to the public. Hosted by Penn State Extension, Ag Day allows farmers, homeowners, and landowners to gather and grow for social connectivity, educational presentations, and a vendor expo. Over 75 agriculture-related businesses and organizations, Penn State Extension program staff, and volunteers will be on hand. Attend classroom sessions, visit with representatives from local community resources, bid on fresh baked pies, and enjoy ice cream. Advanced registration is required. Lunch is included for those who pre-register.

Visit the Master Gardeners at their information table and entomology display classroom. Additionally, Master Gardeners will present four classroom sessions during Ag Day:

10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.: Howard Burkett, Getting Started with Hydroponics

Hydroponic gardening may sound complex, but it's based on simple gardening principles. Learn how to get started with hydroponic gardening.

11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Jim Kasten, Growing Small Fruits in the Home Garden

Learn the best practices to grow small fruits, including site preparation, soil and nutrient needs, and common pests and diseases.

1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.: Jean Hollister, Susquehanna County Demonstration Garden Map Project

Take a pictorial stroll through the Demonstration Gardens of Susquehanna County, created or maintained by the Master Gardeners.

2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.: Rachel Bennett, Bob Owens, Jim Perkins, Melissa Wright, Garden Hotline LIVE! Common Gardening Questions and Answers

Master Gardener volunteers are trained to answer your questions, including soil testing, growing vegetables, plant selection, pruning fruit trees, common plant diseases, insect identification, lawn care, and more. A panel of Master Gardeners will present information on common home garden and landscape questions.
