The town of Susquehanna is home to five Pocket Park Gardens maintained by the Susquehanna Blossoms Garden Club through a partnership with the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners: Drinker Creek Garden, Ira Reynolds Rain Garden, Willow Avenue Hill Garden, Viaduct Park, and the Franklin Avenue Pocket Parks.
Ideas for new downtown Susquehanna Pocket Park Gardens came to fruition in 2019. Over the next 2-3 years, most of the work took place with each garden highlighting typical landscape challenges. The gardens showcase creative solutions that gardeners of all experience levels can implement. Ongoing challenges to maintaining the gardens downtown include access to water sources and poor soil conditions. The gardens are designed with low maintenance needs yet provide interest and variety throughout the growing season.
