Join the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Susquehanna County in the spring of 2025 for the Seed to Supper beginner vegetable gardening program for adults.

Seed to Supper is a 7-class beginner vegetable gardening program that covers the fundamentals of garden planning, soil health, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. The classes, taught by trained Master Gardener volunteers, include hands-on demonstrations and activities. The program will be offered in the spring of 2025 in partnership with community organizations in Forest City, Montrose, and Susquehanna.

In 2024, the Seed to Supper program taught 28 participants in Susquehanna County. Completed program evaluations found:

  • 100% agreed the program helped them to grow their own food.
  • 95% agreed they learned more about resources available to them within their communities.
  • 100% agreed their gardening knowledge increased.
  • 86% agreed the program helped them to eat more vegetables.
  • 90% agreed the program helped them to try new varieties of vegetables.
  • 95% were likely to share information learned from the Seed to Supper program with others.

Join the Seed to Supper program for 2025 to learn how to supplement your food budget with homegrown vegetables. Class dates and times are still to be determined. The program is designed for beginner and intermediate gardeners and includes a coursebook and other gardening supplies. Seed to Supper is free for qualifying individuals; the fee for other participants is $35.00 for the 7-class program.
