As glimpses of the Spring season appear in Susquehanna County, gardeners are anxious to get their hands in the dirt! Pollinator-friendly flowers, culinary herbs, and family-favorite vegetable seedlings are just a few examples of what gardeners will discover at the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Susquehanna County's annual Spring Plant Sale.

Save the date on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and visit the Penn State Extension office, 88 Chenango, Street, Montrose, to browse and shop. Selecting plants and flowers of different heights, colors, and bloom times can add interest, diversity, and enjoyment to home landscapes. The Spring Plant Sale offers a selection of annual and perennial flowers for sun and shade, a variety of vegetable and herb seedlings, colorful combinations of blooms in hanging baskets, and assorted houseplants. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your home gardening questions. Penn State Extension soil test kits will also be available for purchase. The Spring Plant Sale accepts cash, checks, and credit card payments and is held rain or shine.

Master Gardeners in Susquehanna County maintain several educational demonstration gardens, teach the Mr. Yuk Poison Prevention curriculum to area first-grade students, staff an educational outreach exhibit during the Harford Fair, help with conservation projects in the community, deliver presentations to small groups, teach the Seed to Supper vegetable gardening program, and present the annual Spring Garden Day event. Proceeds from the Spring Plant Sale support these and other education outreach activities.
