Club that offers Horseless, Horse, and Leadership projects

Members

Members are 8 - 18 years old from all over Westmoreland County.  Club is limited to 12 members.

Meetings

Meetings are held at Stillwaters Farm in Donegal, PA, with an additional activity each month.  Meetings are held March through October on the 1st Sunday of the month from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Parents are expected to attend all meetings.

Activities

Members are participants who don't have a horse of their own or just need help with ground manners and basic handling skills.  Club leaders allow members to use their horses for all horse-related learning activities.   Members participate in hands-on experiences with horses, fieldtrips, guest speakers, poster talks, community service, a fundraiser, and summer camp or horsemanship clinic as part of this "Getting Started with Horses" program.  This is a club where members learn about horses and handling them safely on the ground using natural horsemanship methods.  We are not a learn-to-ride program, but we do try to have all members riding bareback by the end of the first year.
