Penn State Extension of Chester County announced that Charlotte Tompkins, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, has been selected as the Summer Assistant for its 4-H Youth Development program.
Tompkins will work with the 4-H Extension Educators and staff to provide informal educational experiences and activities for youth. She will be traveling throughout the county to assist with 4-H programming and outreach efforts to urban and rural communities.
"I am passionate about the 4-H program and youth outreach as I am hoping to continue to pursue a career in the field after graduating in August," said Tompkins. "I am honored to have this opportunity and look forward to meeting new 4-Hers and expanding my 4-H family."
Tompkins is currently a senior at the Pennsylvania State University pursuing a degree in Animal Science with a minor in Equine Science. A 4-H alumna, she was involved in 4-H program for about eight years and served as the 2015 Pennsylvania 4-H State Council Reporter.
"We are excited to have Charlotte join our 4-H team in the Penn State Extension office in Chester County," said Logan Hall, Extension Educator. "Her passion for the 4-H program combined with her academic experiences from the Pennsylvania State University will be invaluable for our summer programming and outreach efforts."
Administered in Pennsylvania by Penn State Extension, 4-H is a community of more than 6 million young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. Penn State Extension 4-H youth development educators in all 67 counties throughout the commonwealth administer local 4-H programs through non-formal education and outreach.
