The Garden Hotline is a free service offered through the Penn State Extension office to help Westmoreland County residents with gardening questions and concerns.

Master Gardeners answer questions on various topics, including growing vegetables, fruits, ornamentals, turf grass, plant identification, pruning, and insect and disease problems. Master Gardeners encourage the use of integrated pest management and environmentally sound practices.

Soil Fertility Testing

Pick up soil fertility testing submission forms and instructions at the Donohoe Center, then submit them to the Agricultural Analytical Services Lab along with payment. Or you can access the same information online at Agricultural Analytical Services Lab.

Plant Pathology Services

If the Garden Hotline cannot diagnose your plant disease, the Penn State Plant Disease Clinic will accept digital sample submissions and encourage the submission of photos before mailing samples. Digital samples can be sent to their new email address PlantClinic@psu.edu. If necessary, physical samples can be mailed to the clinic via US Mail, FedEx, and UPS.
