Timely information about weeds, insects, or other things that you may be observing in your lawn or garden.

Currently the gardens should be getting ready for the winter. In the vegetable patch the annuals should be removed. Cover crops if used should be well established. Soil test should be done now if none has been been conducted in the last three to five years. As a minimum cover your soil with leaves or straw to protect it over winter.

Shrubs and trees should be inspected for any damage and corrected. Those that require protection from harsh winter winds should have their protection in place.

Annuals that also provide home for native insects should be left alone. It may cause more work in spring, but helping is always a good thing.

Not all is lost, the seed catalogs and tool catalogs will be arriving soon!

Probably the only thing you will see in your garden will be birds looking for seeds, squirrels, and deer.
