The Demonstration and Trail Garden areas were established in 2002 with the permission of the First United Church of Christ on their property at 110 Rte 61 South in Schuylkill Haven.
Demonstration areas are maintained as learning gardens for the public. Signs are posted identifying the plants and flyers are available in the information box. Public programs are held each year at the garden.
Plants for the trail growing area are decided upon each year by a committee of Master Gardeners. Evaluations are done by trained Master Gardeners to report the vigor, success and suitability of the selected plants for gowing in Schuylkill County. Evaluation results are available from the Cooperative Extension office.
Demonstration Garden areas currently include: Perennial of the Year, Herbs, Native Wildflowers, Butterfly Garden, Flowers for Arrangements, Favorites, Sedum, and Xeriscape.
