The Master Gardeners of Pike County took on the task of taking care of the memorial for Corporal Byron Dickson. On September 12, 2014, Corporal Dickson was fatally ambushed outside the Blooming Grove State Troopers station. To honor his memory, a memorial stone and gardens were installed at the barracks. The maintenance was provided by the Master Gardeners until the onset of COVID which limited access to the barracks. Seeing the gardens needing attention, the Master Gardeners received permission to again provide care for the memorial and gardens.

Care of the garden included weeding, mulching, pruning, digging up and separating large grasses, removing dead invasive plants, and adding chrysanthemums to the existing planters. New American flags were donated by the Veteran's Administration of Pike County.
