The Philadelphia Master Gardener Plant Sale is almost here!

Plant Sale tomato seedlings.
It's almost time! Philadelphia Penn State Master Gardeners are gearing up for our annual Plant Sale at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center on Sunday, April 27, 2025!
This year, we will be selling a variety of affordable seedlings and native plants with beautiful blooms. Prices range from $4.00 for small vegetable starter plants to $30 for well-established, exotic house plants. Choose from dozens of varieties of unique veggies, herbs, native plants, and pollinators for all kinds of light and moisture conditions. All plants have been carefully cultivated by Penn State Master Gardeners or local farms and nurseries and proceeds support our educational programs in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Master Gardeners will also host garden tours and gardening workshops and demonstrations throughout the day. There's something for the entire family!
Both new and experienced gardeners will enjoy featured activities like:
- Talks and demonstrations on container gardening, growing peppers and tomatoes, and how to build a vermicompost bin, followed by a raffle of a vermicompost bin complete with worms!
- Honey tasting with the Philadelphia Beekeepers' Guild
- Tours of the pollinator garden, edible garden and Food Forest at the Horticulture Center, given by Penn State Master Gardeners and the Philadelphia Orchard Project
- A rare tour of the garden at the Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center -- this tour has limited space and is first come, first serve, so check the tour time on the activity schedule on our webpage and don't be late!
- A Kid Zone with fun activities, arts and crafts for children of different ages
- Penn State Master Gardeners and local community organizations on hand to answer questions about gardening for pollinators, native plants, native bees and honey bees, soil testing, composting, mosquito prevention, and much more!
Pink's Cold Treats and Many Hands coffee will be there to keep you refreshed with water ice or energized with coffee and pastries as you shop!
The sale opens at 10 AM, but many things sell out quickly, so come early for the best selection!
