Our three Award Winning Demonstration Gardens are open to the public every day.
Trained by Penn State Extension, the Master Gardener volunteers share their love and knowledge of gardening with the community through a variety of projects, including demonstration gardens at Fairmount Park.
The demonstration gardens teach children and adults about plants that impact our everyday lives.
Organic Edible Garden
The Edible Landscape Garden was designed and built in 2004 to show various cultivation practices such as succession planting, integrated pest management and water conservation.
Pollinator Habitat Garden
The Pollinator or Butterfly Garden has been around just as long and is a spectacular example of native plantings to attract and support a wide variety of fauna. The PHS Blue Ribbon Award Winning Garden is also a Certified Pollinator Habitat.
Food Forest Orchard
This is a demonstration orchard in a partnership with the Philadelphia Orchard Project and the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation. This orchard demonstrates a sustainable ecosystem that mimics natural systems while providing nutritious healthful food.

This demonstration garden, managed by the Penn State Extension Philadelphia Master Gardeners, is a living classroom for community groups and visitors in the practices of intensive gardening.
