Paul McFarland Jr., education program specialist with Penn State Extension, reflected on the value of Pennsylvania 4-H shooting sports:

"4-H is about positive youth development, and Pennsylvania 4-H shooting sports is about more than hitting the target; it's about exploring your passions and trying your absolute best when faced with adversity, it's about developing long-lasting friendships with folks from other states or parts of Pennsylvania, it's about creating that sense of belonging, it's about developing life skills where a champion athlete can make the choice to congratulate all the other award winners for their accomplishments before accepting her own."

Under the guidance, training, and supervision of adult mentors, 4-H shooting sports offer a positive and safe environment for youth, fostering responsible and ethical practices in the use of firearms and archery equipment.
