Thank you to all the clubs, bidders, and bid winners that helped make the York County 4-H Baskets and More Virtual Auction in November a success. All money raised helps keep the bills paid at the York County 4-H Center.
Without our normal rentals the Center has seen a loss of revenue this year just like many other small businesses. The Center Board of Directors had hoped to raise 4-5 thousand dollars with the auction, but thanks to great supporters we were able to raise nearly $6,500! I sent the basket buyer list out to club leaders in hopes the buyer will receive a thank you note from someone in the club. We owe a big thanks to the South-Central PA Cattlemen's Association for providing beef that added to our income. We had several pie bakers, Joan Grim, Dianna Shive, and Kim Fetrow who baked up a storm to help our cause. Finally, 2020 summer intern Taylor Grim made a wonderful coconut cake that helped our bottom line as well. The club baskets were great, and we very much appreciate the leaders who stored them and then delivered them for the auction.
I have had a few folks ask about the next auction. The Center Board is still discussing a March auction and whether it's too soon after the November sale and if clubs will be able to put together another basket in such a short period of time. The restrictions on face-to-face meetings has to be considered as well. I think it is unlikely we will have a March 4-H Auction, but stay tuned for updates.
Again, thank you to everyone who helped make the 4-H Baskets and More Auction a success!
