Two Date Options

This training will repeat on October 7, 8, and 9, 2025. Only 1 week is attended for certification. Classes are split to keep the learning environment better with smaller class sizes. If you prefer the 2nd week, please let us know during registration. Some will be assigned their week.

Workshop Topics

This training prepares nutrient management specialists to address the requirements of the Stormwater Control component and assess the accuracy of the P Index soil erosion component in an Act 38 nutrient management plan (NMP).

The workshop provides classroom instruction and field exercises on the basic concepts and methods used to evaluate and manage stormwater runoff and predict soil erosion from cropland. This information is then used to identify existing Critical Runoff Problem Areas and select BMPs to address these areas, as required by Act 38.

Additionally, this basic knowledge will help participants assess the validity of Conservation Plans or Agriculture Erosion and Sedimentation Control (Ag E&S) Plans, which are required to be in place prior to Act 38 NMP approval.

Registration

Registration is required for all Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Specialist Certification trainings. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Registration closes one week prior to the training date.

All registrations must be made through the PAPlants. Guidelines for using PAPlants are outlined in the PAPlants User Guide.
