For the second year, the Master Gardeners of Somerset County will host this series of gardening classes for gardeners at all levels of experience. Reap the benefits of growing fresh vegetables in your home garden with the information shared by experienced Master Gardeners.
The Penn State Master Gardeners of Somerset County invite you to Learn More! Grow More! This spring, learn basic vegetable gardening skills and reinforce existing skills to maximize the potential of your vegetable garden. Growing vegetables successfully in your home garden can be very rewarding!
What you will learn in this series:
- How to site and plan your garden considering plant hardiness in Somerset County, crop rotation, succession planting, and constructing garden beds
- How to ensure soil health by soil testing and proper amendment techniques
- How to make smart decisions about starting vegetables from seeds, indoor vs. direct seeding, transplanting seedlings to outdoor garden sites, sowing patterns
