Our Master Gardeners developed a demonstration garden at the entrance to the Somerset County Library. The demonstration garden illustrates how native plantings can be used to create a colorful and attractive landscape.
The garden includes five species of native shrubs and 24 species of native flowering plants. Master gardeners selected the plantings and carefully considered their location in the garden for optimal viewing. This living teaching tool demonstrates the positive impact native plantings have on the environment. Just inside the library look for three large posters illustrating the interaction of native plants to the ecosystem in which they reside.
The Library Demonstration Garden Plant List identifies each plant and contains pertinent growing information. Plant identification labels will soon be placed in the garden. This plant information will soon be available at the library in our new information box!
