Garden in the Park is an opportunity to meet with the Master Gardeners who work all around the county and especially in our demonstration gardens. We have fun activities, information booths, guest tables for related organizations and more.
In 2025, Garden in the Park is scheduled at both demonstration gardens in Allegheny County Parks.
North Park will host Garden in the Park on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 9 am to 1 pm. Celebrate the joys of gardening at this free, family-friendly event in the beautiful demonstration gardens of North Park. This summer tradition is filled with inspiration, education, and fun for all ages. Stroll through vibrant trial beds, buzzing pollinator zones, fragrant herb and sensory gardens, a flourishing wet garden, and a thriving compost area. Enjoy guided tours, engaging talks by guest speakers, hands-on children’s activities, and a cool treat from the Penn State Berkey Creamery. Whether you're a curious beginner or a lifelong gardener, there’s something for everyone. Come explore, connect, and grow with us!
South Park Learning Garden will host Garden in the Park on August 16 from 9 am to 1 pm in the new location next to the South Park Theatre. The new garden is being transformed from a garden in disrepair to a new and beautiful landscape. Our first garden design is a "Moon Garden" theme designed with blue foliage and white flowers that are delicate in the daytime and dazzling in the evening. In 2024 we added the Spectrum Garden and the Gravel Garden, demonstrating two difficult growing areas. The Spectrum Garden receives a lot of rain during storms, while the Gravel Garden bakes in the sun between the blacktop parking area and the cement block building as the backdrop. Coming in 2025: Habitat Hill!!
