The Demonstration Garden is sited in front of the Veterans Memorial; the semi-circular stone monument and historic cannon provide a unique background for the flowers.

The Penn State Demonstration Garden in North Park is located at the corner of Wildwood and Ingomar Roads. The garden, which was started in 1990, includes annual trial beds, an herb garden, pollinator gardens, container gardens, and a composting area.

During the growing season, Master Gardeners care for the garden and answer the public's questions on Wednesday mornings except for the last week of every month, you'll find us there in the evening on Wednesday.

This is the site for one of the only two Penn State in-ground flower trials, in partnership with the Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center, we demo new and emerging plants throughout the summer months. PSU Flower Trials in Manheim, PA

In October of 2009, the Master Gardeners who volunteer at North Park were recognized by Allegheny County Council for their efforts to maintain the gardens and provide horticultural education to the residents of Allegheny County.

Here is a passage from the proclamation:

Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby commends the Master Gardener volunteers who help maintain the North Park Demonstration Garden. We thank everyone involved in beautifying the park and for promoting proper gardening to the residents of our County.
