Allentown Fair: From a 4-H Member Perspective

Every year at this time, I, Zoe Cole, a member of the Lehigh County 4-H Coop Club, look forward to the Allentown Fair. As 4-H members we are all obligated to submit an entry into the fair based on our project throughout the year. For me, it is one of the best parts of being a 4-H member! I enter my project along with artwork such as paintings, ceramics, photography, and I especially love making posters about new areas I wish to learn about to present to others.

I originally found out about the 4-H Coop Club at the Allentown Fair back in 2019 and knew it was a club I would want to join since it included all kinds of small animals. Some members of the club have chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, or dogs. During my 4 years in the Coop Club, my projects have included hamsters, gerbils, mice, and rats. 

This year, the Coop Club, like many other 4-H clubs, submitted a scrapbook to the Allentown Fair showcasing our members' presentations throughout the year. We also had a tri-fold display board of our club's activities and community service events. The Lehigh County 4-H Coop Club meets every third Wednesday of the month, come check us out!

Many educational and fun activities are offered by 4-H in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, 4-H is coordinated by Penn State Cooperative Extension through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 4-H programs are open to all youths regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or disability.
