Wyoming County's first offering of the Seed to Supper Program received with enthusiasm
The Master Gardeners of Wyoming County were pleased to present the County's first offering of the Seed to Supper Program in February at the Tunkhannock Public Library. Four classes covered practical, low-cost techniques in beginning vegetable gardening fundamental topics. Participation exceeded expectations, enrolling 26 adult learners. All participants received a Seed to Supper course manual, assorted vegetable seeds, and a potted living herb.
Completed final course evaluations found that 100% agreed or strongly agreed that the Seed to Supper Program helped them to:
- Learn how to grow their own food;
- Learn more about resources available to them in their community;
- Increase their gardening knowledge.
100% were also likely to share information learned in the Seed to Supper Program with others. Participant feedback at the conclusion of the course was enthusiastic: "We found the instructors to be very friendly and knowledgeable, with a variety of experiences. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to attend and have already told numerous people about it."
Seed to Supper's goal is to help build a more food secure community by providing novice, adult gardeners the knowledge and encouragement to learn how to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited budget.
