The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Wyoming County are poised to revitalize their permanent outdoor exhibit area at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds as a Certified Pennsylvania Pollinator-Friendly Garden, funded in part by the Wyoming County Room Tax Fund and the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau.

The Master Gardeners of Wyoming County were recently awarded a $1,276 grant from the Wyoming County Room Tax Fund and the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau for a Pennsylvania Pollinator-Friendly Garden Project. The funding will enable the Master Gardeners to design, plant, and certify a 320 square-foot garden as part of their permanent outdoor exhibit at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds. The completed project, which will debut at the 2022 Wyoming County Fair, will improve the exhibit's aesthetic by incorporating plantings that add interest and diversity for public enjoyment, increase the quantity and variety of plants native to Pennsylvania that attract pollinators, and showcase the strong relationship between pollinators and agriculture, the centerpiece of the County Fair.

This will be only the fourth Certified Pennsylvania Pollinator-Friendly Garden in Wyoming County, and the first one accessible to the public. Look for the Master Gardeners during Fair Week to provide daily guided tours and to learn how to plant flowers and host plants in home landscapes to attract pollinators.
