The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Wyoming County recently welcomed nearly 50 local gardeners at the "Think Spring!" Gardening Seminar held at Keystone College.

"Think Spring!" featured four presentations by Master Gardeners designed to offer inspiration and instructional how-to for home gardeners. Ashlee Butkiewicz detailed methods for growing dahlias in home gardens and shared dahlia tubers with attendees from her flower farm in Lake Winola, The Posy Plot. Building healthy compost was the topic delivered by Courtney Leaidicker. Dave Whitham described his experience building raised garden beds using fallen trees for frames. Master Gardener Coordinator Melissa Wright shared science-based recommendations for companion planting in home vegetable gardens. Door prize drawings offered gardening books, seed-starting materials, and a gift certificate for perennial plants.
