Take a walk on the grounds of Beaver Station, the restored historic Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad station on East End Avenue in Beaver, to enjoy the annual, perennial, and native plant demonstration gardens grown and maintained by Master Gardeners. Originally three separate gardens, these now flow together as one stunning example of landscape design.

The perennial and annual beds always thrill with a riot of color for most of the season, while the native plantings impress visitors with towering Joe-Pye and other pollinator favorites. A close look at the milkweed may reveal a few Monarch caterpillars! Perennials and natives also provide a great deal of winter interest so visitors can enjoy the gardens year-round.

These gardens reflect an important partnership between Penn State Master Gardeners and the Beaver Area Heritage Foundation. Thursday evenings are the best time to find volunteers planting, weeding, mulching, deadheading, and watering the gardens. They are happy to provide on-the-spot tours and answer questions about the great variety of flowers and shrubs on site, or recommend other plants to home gardeners.
