On Wednesday, November 15, Mercer County 4-H members were recognized for their hard work and achievements for the 2023 4-H year.

Members, volunteers, parents, and supporters gathered at the Penn State Extension Mercer County Office to celebrate the accomplishments of our members and volunteers from the 2022-2023 4-H program year with recognition, awards, and an ice-cream social.
Volunteers Michelle Hill and Sally Oakes were recognized for participating in the Pennsylvania 4-H Leaders Forum. Sally Ely was recognized as the 2023 Outstanding 4-H Supporter for 40 years of dedication and service.
Molly Hohmann – President, Tucker Maine – Vice President, Marigrace Garvis – Secretary, and Michael Mendoza – Treasurer, were recognized for their leadership of the Mercer County 4-H Teen Council.
Members recognized for club officer project books were: Molly Hohmann-President Book; Audrey Lawrence-Vice President Book; Noah Williams-Secretary Book; and Amelia Beach-Treasurer Book.

Mercer County 4-H horse club members Lily Wilson, Avery Wilson, Madison Hougelman, Maddalyn Bailey, Addilyn Foust, Lilliana Bates, Hailey Meacham, and Breanna Loeblein participated in the District IX Horse Show. Members Lily Wilson, Avery Wilson, Madison Hougelman, Maddalyn Bailey, Addilyn Foust, and Lilliana Bates participated in the Pennsylvania 4-H State Horse Show where Avery earned Reserve State Champion in the Beginners Western Horsemanship class and Lilliana was recognized for reaching the 500-hour level in the Hoof Hour award program.
Owen Hill, Lydia Hill, and Renee Ealy competed in the State Junior Dairy Show. Adam Ballard, Makenna Mase, McKinleigh Mase, Clayton Prinkey, and Kallie Prinkey participated on the Dairy Cattle Judging Team, coached by Maggie Mase and Carrie Prinkey, and Adam earned a seat on the Pennsylvania 4-H State Judging Team.
Michael Mendoza and Tucker Maine, coached by Steve Pfaff and Mike Mendoza, competed on the Livestock Judging Team.
Tucker Maine participated in the Pennsylvania 4-H State Leadership Conference, Madison Hougelman in the Pennsylvania 4-H Animal Science Camp, Marigrace Garvis in the NW Teen Leadership Retreat & Camp Counselor Training, Abigail Clemente, Saphira Knize, Jayde Rodriguez, and Jazzy Uber in the NW Pennsylvania 4-H Camp, “Camp Conundrum,” Johnny Grove in the SW Pennsylvania 4-H Camp, “4-H World Adventurers,” and Michael Aites, Theodore Aites, Ryder Griffin, Zayla Griffin, Johnny Grove, Saphira Knize, Tucker Maine, Alex McLellan, and Carl Turner, in the Pennsylvania 4-H Aquatics and Entomology Field Day.
Green 4-H Clover Awards were presented to: Ryder Griffin, Jasmine Uber, Carl Turner, and Saphira Knize. White 4-H Clover Awards were presented to: Ryder Griffin, Jasmine Uber, and Saphira Knize.
Cloverbud certificates were given to: Michael Aites, Zayla Griffin, Karley Uber, Rayme Ames, Caleb Brownlee, Alivia Duncan, Harper Ensminger, Ava Lawrence, Ariella Link, Henry Polito, Craigen Powell, Charlotte Priester, Naomi Rader, Sawyer Straub, John Sulecki, Claire Williams, Presley Yasko, Grant Adamson, Navaeh Thompson, Cheryn Thompson, Camden Houk, and Charlette Kaufman.
Jocelyn Miller, Reagan Rader, and Pria Williams were recognized as Outstanding 1st year members.
Over the Hill Awards were given to the following members who have completed their 4-H career as youth members: Devyn Bailey, Marigrace Garvis, Deven Olson, Kallie Prinkey, Brooke Schreiber, and Callie Whiting.
Sponsored by the Mercer County 4-H Program Development Committee and 4-H Foundation and the David K. Anderson and Elizabeth Fellnagle Memorial Funds, the 2023 Mercer County Outstanding 4-H Member awards were presented to Jordan Olson and Tucker Maine who demonstrate long-term dedication and active participation in the 4-H Program and the motivation to “Make the Best Better.”
