Explore opportunities available during the 4-H project year.

Educational County Opportunities

In addition to educational programming offered at club meetings, members have the opportunity to participate in county events such as 4-H Exploration Day, horse & livestock clinics, Demonstration Night, Civic Engagement Day and other county wide programs. Teen members also have additional opportunities to attend regional and state events such as State Leadership Conference, Capital Days, and many other events.

Afterschool Programs

Luzerne County 4-H is proud to partner with our local schools and day care facilities to offer Afterschool Programming. 4-H programming and activities are offered in an afterschool setting and involve topics involving STEM, Expressive Arts, Electricity, Gardening, and many other topics. For more information on getting involved with either of these opportunities please contact our office.

Contests and Exhibits

4-H members have the opportunity to enter their projects in the Luzerne County Fair every year. Members compete in livestock and pet shows as well as exhibiting their completed project posters and displays in the 4-H Arts & Crafts Building. Members who complete projects are also eligible to enter their items as exhibits in the PA State Farm Show as well as compete at state level competitions in their project areas.

County Round-Up Review

To complete their 4-H year, 4-H members “show what they know” at 4-H County Round-Up Review by presenting their completed projects to a judge and to have their projects exhibited in the 4-H category at the Luzerne County Fair.  During this process members develop communication and life skills that can be used in the future.
