The Penn State Extension 4-H Youth Development program honored members who excelled in their 4-H project activities during 4-H Achievement Night held October 1, 2018 at the Lebanon Valley Agricultural Center.

The Lebanon County 4-H Club Salute to Excellence award was presented to the American Eagles 4-H Club. This club of 16 members is very active in the community and offers a variety of 4-H projects for both Cloverbud and 4-H age youth. All of the current members are under 13 years of age.

In addition, the Lebanon County 4-H Leader Salute to Excellence Award was given to Maureen Light, a 4-H leader in the 4-H Friends Club. This award recognizes outstanding commitment to a local 4-H club and the community through the dedication, enthusiasm and quality performance of an adult volunteer 4-H Leader. Light has been a 4-H Leader for the 27 years and is an active supporter of the 4-H Clothing and Textiles program on the county, regional, and state levels.

Lebanon County 4-H Leader Salute to Excellence Award: Maureen Light was awarded the 2018 Lebanon County 4-H Salute to Excellence Award for her dedication and support of the 4-H Program during the 4-H Achievement Night at Lebanon Valley Agricultural Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

The 4-H County Officer Awards are presented on the county level for outstanding member achievement at the local club level.

This year, the award recipients included:

  • Vice-President - Olivia Thorpe, 4-H Friends Club;
  • Secretary - Sydnie Schaffer, Saddle Up 4-H Club
  • Treasurer- Thomas Lavin, Saddle Up 4-H Club.

Honor 4-H'er awards recognizing the achievements of the top 4-H'ers in each age level of the program were also presented. The following members were selected as 2018 Lebanon County Honor 4-H'ers:

  • 8 year olds: Jinger Martin, Alicia Meyer, Riley Werner
  • 9 year olds: Mason Copenhaver, Jocelyn Troutman
  • 10 year olds: Brian Meyer, Josh Tice, Carolyn Troutman
  • 11 year olds: Madison Copenhaver, Autumn Martin, Olivia Morrissey, Joe Tice
  • 12 year olds: Landon Bixler, Eve Fenstermaker, Evelyn Troutman, Madison VanBrunt
  • 13 year olds: Amy Meyer, Sierra Tice
  • 14 year olds: Jolene Bomgardner, Alea Smith
  • 15 year olds: Lizzie Kreider, Ashley Morgan, Doris Swanger, Olivia Thorpe
  • 16 year olds: Emily Swanger

Additionally, awards were presented to 4-H members who placed in the Gold Honors Group at the regional Fashion & Textile Revue including:

  • Junior Division members: Madison Copenhaver, Stella Klynoot, Olivia Morrissey, Autumn Martin, Mackenzie Stellmach, Evelyn Troutman, Riley Werner and
  • Senior Division members: Jolene Bomgardner, Sarah Domencic, Kyle Nazarchuk, Olivia Thorpe, and Leah Roop.

Teen leadership project awards were presented to the following members:

  • Teresa Helms, Trinitee Hoffman, Lizzie Kreider, Cyndi Lutz, Alex Nazarchuk, Kyle Nazarchuk, Kacey Reismiller, and Olivia Thorpe.


The 4-H clubs receiving recognition for their Club Scrapbooks and Community Service Projects included:

  • American Eagles 4-H Club, 4-H Friends Club, Lebanon County Dairy Beef 4-H Club, Lebanon County Livestock 4-H Club, NoSoAnn 4-H Club, and Rags to Rabbits 4-H Club.
