DEP’s Bureau of Watershed Restoration and Nonpoint Source Management is hiring for two Agriculture Conservation Engineering Specialists. There is only one posting for both positions so applicants should only apply once.

The Agriculture Conservation Engineering Specialist (Environmental Engineering Specialist) for our Agriculture Compliance Section is responsible for providing technical, managerial and program development to support agricultural compliance and permitting of agricultural operations across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and within the Pennsylvania portion of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Among other things, the person in this position:

  • Develops standardized NPDES permit documents, policies, procedures, and guidance and provides technical support relative to the regional implementation of permitting, compliance, and enforcement of CAFOs.
  • Provides program oversite of Chesapeake Bay Engineer contracts and quality assurance of contracted required output measures.
  • Develops the engineering components of the Manure Management and Agriculture Erosion and Sediment Control programs, including regulations, policies, standards, procedures, methods and technical guidance and coordinates and evaluates the programs for uniform statewide implementation.
  • Provides technical assistance and formalized training to nutrient management specialists, DEP staff, conservation district staff, and others to cultivate broad understanding of the engineering guidance, policy, procedures, and regulations developed within the Agriculture Compliance Section.
