Seed to Supper is a comprehensive beginning vegetable gardening program that provides adult gardeners with the tools they need to know how to successfully grow a portion of their own healthy produce on a limited budget.

The Master Gardener volunteers will instruct and demonstrate practical, low-cost techniques for planning, planting, maintaining, and harvesting a successful vegetable garden. The course also includes nutrition education information and healthy recipes. Participants will be encouraged to make budget-friendly decisions in their gardens and to share the joy of eating home-grown vegetables. Classes will be held at the Tioga County Fairgrounds in Whitneyville at our "Potting Shed" Demonstration Gardens where we will be planting a vegetable garden from start to harvest!

The Seed to Supper classes are offered at no charge to participants and in addition to classroom instruction and hands-on activities, each participant will receive the 150-page Seed to Supper course book, an assortment of vegetable, herb, and companion flower seed packets, and additional gardening supplies!

This program offers more than just gardening education and improved access to healthy foods; the lessons equip adult learners with the knowledge and encouragement to increase individual and community food insecurity by fostering food literacy, community connectivity, and supportive social networks. Those who are able to attend and participate in all 5 classes will receive a certificate.
