Groups of volunteers guided by the expertise of Penn State Extension Master Gardeners completed a tree planting and beautification project at Claude Kehler Community Park II off Walnut Street in Shamokin.
Shamokin Area students and the Shamokin Community Gardens group installed fifteen flowering trees to beautify the area. These trees will also improve water quality by capturing storm water and preventing soil erosion in the park. This project was underwritten by U.S. Department of Agriculture and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
