In Spring 2020, there were populations of the invasive Spotted Lanternfly along the southern borders of Columbia and Northumberland Counties. Now adults are appearing in the middle areas of Columbia, Northumberland, and Montour Counties. Lanternflies expand their areas by stowing away in vehicles as well as gliding on wind currents and flying in September and October. If you see adults you can identify them with the help of Penn State Extension's website and then report their location. The best way is to visit Penn State Extension's Spotted Lanternfly website or telephone 1-888-4BADFLY (1-888-422-3359) .
